Write a story people can feel

Tell donors exactly who is being helped, why the money is needed, and what will change when the goal is reached. Be specific — say "GHS 4,500 for four months of dialysis" not "medical expenses". Specific stories raise more money.

Add a real photo or short video

Campaigns with a clear, real photo raise significantly more than those without. Use the actual person or situation — not stock images. A 30-second video explaining the situation in your own words makes an even bigger difference.

Share in the first 24 hours — hard

The first 24 hours determine whether your campaign gains momentum. Send the link directly to at least 20 people you know. Ask them to donate and then forward to three more people each. WhatsApp groups are the most effective channel in Ghana.

Set a realistic goal amount

A campaign at 80% of a modest goal looks more trustworthy than one at 5% of an inflated goal. Start with the minimum you truly need. You can always raise more — campaigns that exceed their goal build social proof and keep going.

Post an update within the first week

Post an update as soon as something happens — a hospital visit, a receipt, a thank-you from the beneficiary. Updates send notifications to all your donors and bring them back to share again. The Transparency Ledger automatically shows every transaction.

Thank every donor by name

When someone donates, leave them a public thank-you in the Words of Support section or message them directly. People who feel appreciated share more. A small personal touch goes further than any paid promotion.

Use WhatsApp — it is your biggest tool

In Ghana and across West Africa, WhatsApp is the primary sharing channel. Share the campaign link in family groups, church groups, and work groups. Use the "Share on WhatsApp" button on your campaign page — it formats the message automatically.

Be transparent about how money will be spent

Use the Spending Breakdown section when creating your campaign. Even a rough breakdown — "GHS 3,000 for drugs, GHS 1,500 for tests" — dramatically increases trust and donations. Donors give more when they know exactly where their money goes.
